Thank you all for leaving such thoughtful notes on my last post. I appreciate your feedback.
This weekend was full of naps and book reading. Saturday I made this guinness-chocolate ice cream for St Patrick's day. The first ice cream we have made in years and I couldn't eat it. It is day twenty-two of my self imposed no added sugar for forty days program. Hmmm.....what was I thinking?!?!?!
G and S said it was delicious and I have to believe them because G is not a chocolate ice cream fan and he ate it with a big smile on his face.
We also tried to make vegetarian corned beef. I will spare you a description of how it turned out, but rest assured we did NOT even come close to eating it.
Let me introduce you to Julia, Abby's birthday surprise! She is a pit bull, terrier, boxer mix and is eight and a half years old. She is extremely calm and affectionate. She LOVES to play with toys, chase balls, destroy plush toys (6 already today!) and cuddle. She is such a sweetheart and a heart breaker. The awesome folks at the shelter cried when they had to say goodbye to her. She had been there a while and they had become very attached to her!
Abby had fun with her at the shelter, they were like a match made in heaven. But when she figured out Julia was coming in the car with us she started to get a little worried and spent the whole ride home on G's lap. We took them both on a long walk before we went home and had no problems. But that was the end of that...........It finally sunk in that Julia was here to stay when we got home and Abby wasn't too happy with that. She has spent the large majority of the day barking at Julia. Who completely ignores her and just plays with toys or begs for belly rubs.
Its finally quiet now. Abby is asleep on the sofa and Julia on her bed. I have no doubt that these two are going to be best buddies and I will come home to find them snuggling together.
